Butterflies are showing a worrying decline in many areas of UK but Wild Landfill is helping to reverse that trend on its sites. Latest survey data at Clegir Mawr Wild Landfill shows the variety and numbers seen there are excellent.

Gatekeeper and Meadow butterflies are particularly abundant. Two other species are noteworthy, namely, the Small Skipper and Dingy Skipper, although quite widespread locally are by no means common. The Dingy Skipper was first recorded at the site by Dr Richard Birch a few years ago, and it now appears as though it is established on the site which is great news.
